W. Spencer Dunlap Senior Minister
Spencer has been the Senior Minister of Northland Mission church since December 2007. Born and raised in the Kansas City area, his road to faith has been unique, taking him from his RLDS (Mormonish) upbringing, through border-line agnosticism and evolutionist thinking as a biology undergrad, which interestingly and ultimately led him to a belief in the Creator through an honest evaluation of the sciientific evidence.
Spencer made his commitment to follow Christ and was baptized in 1994. Although he has spent much of his career in education and business, he has always been involved in ministry. In 2005 he started Suburban Missionaries as an organization devoted to helping churches be more evangelistic and in 2007 God called him to Northland Mission as his full-time vocation. In 2008, he finished a Master's Degree in Ministry through Pepperdine. Spencer and his wife, Jennifer, have been married since 1993 and have two children.
Jerry Carpenter Worship Minister
Jerry has been with the Northland Mission church of Christ since its founding over fifteen years ago. A music teacher for the North Kansas City high school for over 30 years, Jerry has always had a passion for music, and he brings that passion into every worship service he plans and leads. A life-long learner, Jerry is always introducing the congregation to new songs, and works to find new and exciting ways to bring people into the presence of God on a weekly basis.
